WWF Anti-Deforestation Campaign
Fictional ad campaign for WWF to stop deforestation.
Prompt
Deforestation is one of the world's greatest modern problems. There are many expansive forests that are being harvested for resources or for agricultural land, nonetheless it is hurting our world as a whole. What I wanted to do was to create an ad campaign reminiscent to the national parks WPA posters that showcased each forest that is being hurt from this worldwide problem. Instead of showcasing the beauty of each of these locations, I wanted to enlighten the viewer to what it truly looks like to see a forest being ripped down and stripped for land that isn't even fertile.

Research
I looked through many different photos, documentations, and references of forests that are experiencing this issue. I also made sure to get the information that is being spread by the WWF on this topic, as the main "brand" that will be "funding" this campaign would be the World Wildlife Foundation itself. The photos I found that fit the narrative the best were used for tracing so that the graphic depiction of each forest was as close as possible. I also made sure to get photos of people who could seemingly be put into each graphic as a person actively participating in the destruction.

Initial Designs
Here are the first two posters that I wanted to make. For the Gran Chaco poster, I felt as though a toxic green hue would work best as the patches shown are actually crops instead of trees. The clouds that cover the sky are the same color as the forest and the farmlands as in the photo the clouds look more like smog and portraying that was important. For the Amazon poster, showcasing the destruction on ground zero was what I wanted to focus on, finding a picture with a lot of debris and logs amidst the lush green of the forest behind it to provide the necessary dichotomy.
Second Iterations
To cap off the trilogy, I added in a poster for Borneo. For this poster, I wanted to showcase another deforestation technique: burning. While mass deforestation is often done through cutting down, sometimes it is also done through fires. This is also where I converted the posters into postcards, as being able to mail people a small version of the poster that explains what's happening at a place you're visiting is another nice prospect. After the designs here, I only changed a few things like making the Gran Chaco poster look more dusty and finally adding in people as seen in the last section.
